O God of Deep and Troubled Storms
O God of deep and troubled storms,Of peace yet tempest tossed; O Comforter of hearts that mourn For life both lived and lost, Teach us how to pray.
Cannot our violence be dethroned? Will nations cease to rage? Does darkness triumph all alone? Can night be bright like day? Teach us how to pray.
What lies within us? Do you know? See who we really are? Our wounded hearts are without hope, Bruised, broken, battle-scarred. Teach us how to pray.
Death rises and innocence flees. Our love gets left alone. Peace is no longer welcome here. Heaven, no longer home.
Our Wounded Deity, enthroned, We bless your sacred name. O Joyful One who bids us come, Teach us how to pray.
